Five points in the knee area and four points near the ankle were used in the study. One additional point has been added to the knee for this patient, who had knee surgery many years ago and has dense scar tissue interfering with knee functioning as well as the arthritis.
Notice that the three needles just below the knee are inserted more deeply than those in the knee itself.
